19th September 2004 - Douglas Hot Springs

Take a break from the highway and take the turnoff 6k North of Hayes Creek and 62k South of Adelaide River, onto Dorat Road for 5k, then South West onto Oolloo Road for 25k and then turn South East for 7k of dirt road. Although a bit out of the way, a relaxing lie in the shallow but enjoyable hot / cold meeting of the waters is worth the effort. The camp sites are level with some shade, have pit toilets and fresh water is available from the hot springs.

22nd September 2004 - Edith Falls Campground

Located approx 20 off the Stuart Highway 61k North Katherine, Nitmiluk National Park is a well maintained camping area that provides well shaded, level sites close to the falls. Hot showers, good safe swimming in the falls area and plenty of walking tracks are all at this oasis in the desert. We recommend “fish watching” at night near the swimming ramps (Don’t forget your torch)

6th September 2004 - Litchfield National Park – West of Batchelor

Litchfield National Park has three camping sites where you can stay in areas close to swimming holes and bush walks. There are 3 recognised camping areas, (NO PETS) namely Buley Rockhole, Florence Falls and Wangi Falls. All are level and have some shade. Shelter sheds are located at Florence Falls and Wangi Falls which also has showers).

There is also a day area at Walker Creek that has many water holes along a bush track that are well worth look and a swim. Take a picnic lunch to make a day of it.

Tolmer Falls can be viewed from a platform but there is no camping allowed at this site. Make sure you stop at the white ant magnetic mounds and have a walk around this amazing spectacle.
